Description

The sensory pods, located in the basement of the Eavan Boland Library, provide a tranquil environment for individual study. Designed to offer a quiet, focused space, these pods have acoustic protection to minimise ambient noise and create a calming atmosphere. Each pod is equipped with controls that allow students to adjust the lighting levels and airflow according to their needs, offering a personalised study experience. These pods are ideal for those seeking a distraction-free zone to work on assignments or read in peace.

Facilities

Each sensory pod includes a comfortable chair designed for long study sessions. However, students should be aware that the chair may occupy space in the pod, which might limit movement for those requiring a more open layout.
There are plug sockets available inside the pods for students to charge their laptops, tablets, and other devices while they study.
Food and drinks are not permitted inside the sensory pods to maintain cleanliness and avoid distractions for other users.
The nearest kettle from here can be found in the SU Kitchen in House 6.
The nearest microwave from here can be found in the SU Kitchen in House 6.
The sensory pods are technically accessible for all students, including those using wheelchairs. The doors are semi-automatic, with no lip at ground level, allowing easier access. However, the doors are not fully automated, and the presence of a chair inside the room might limit space for those who need additional room to manoeuvre.

These pods are specifically designed to provide a sensory-controlled environment. The acoustic insulation blocks out much of the surrounding noise, and the user-controlled lighting and airflow panels allow students to create a study space that best suits their sensory preferences. The environment is quiet and peaceful, making it ideal for students who are sensitive to sensory stimuli or need a calm space to focus.

The sensory pods are located in the basement of the Eavan Boland Library. Upon entering the library, take the stairs or lift down to the basement level.
