Description

This space provides comfortable furniture and flexible lighting to allow students to rest and recuperate. If you’ve had a busy day of lectures, or just need a break from an overwhelming sensory environment, this can be a good place to relax for an hour. The room must be booked in advance of being used as it can only be used by one person at a time. The Arts Building Respite Space is managed by the Disability Service and is provided only to students who have applied for supports with the DS. Only those who have been specifically referred for respite by their Disability Officer can access this room. Your student card needs to be activated on referral from your Disability Officer. Entry to Room 2032 in the Arts Building is by student card access only and must be booked in advance of use. Students are limited to 1 booking per day to ensure availability for other students. Room 2032 can be booked through the Online Booking Calendar only.

Facilities

The room offers a variety of seating options to accommodate different needs, including couches, a bed, and a rocking chair. This variety ensures that students can find the most comfortable position for rest and relaxation.
There are multiple plug sockets available throughout the room, allowing you to charge devices or use electronics as needed during your time in the space.
Students are encouraged to clean up after themselves and avoid bringing food with strong smells into the room to maintain a pleasant environment for everyone. While there is a kettle, tap, and sink available for making tea or coffee, the nearest microwave can be found in the SU Kitchen in House 6.

Some traffic noise from Nassau Street may occasionally be heard.

The space is positioned on the 2nd floor, close to the building’s accessibility lift. To find the room, walk past the security hut and continue until you see the door on the right.
