Description

The Arts Building is a central hub for the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, offering a wide range of academic and social spaces. On the ground floor, you'll find large lecture theatres, seating areas, and a coffee shop. The upper floors house various departments, seminar rooms, classrooms, and offices, providing a vibrant environment for learning and collaboration. [Ground Floor]: Large Lecture Theatres: Equipped with modern audiovisual technology to enhance the learning experience. Seating Areas: Comfortable spaces for students to relax or study between classes. Coffee Shop: A popular spot for grabbing a quick coffee or snack. [Upper Floors]: Departments: Home to a variety of departments within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Seminar Rooms and Classrooms: Designed for smaller, interactive sessions and seminars. Offices: Faculty and administrative offices are located throughout the building.

  • If possible plan to go through this area outside of times at the start and end of the hour (for example 10:10)
  • There is a lift located at the back of the building as an option to stairwells for students to use.
  • There are three stairwells in the Arts Building with the least busy and the far end of the building.
  • There is a roof garden on the fifth floor
  • There is enclosed high back sofas in many of the open areas on the upper floors

At busy times, the building can become quite crowded, especially within the stairwells, leading to consistent contact with other people. However, there are designated quiet and respite areas for those needing a break from the hustle and bustle.

The Arts Building has a very consistent floor-layout from the 3rd floor upwards. There are also many large maps and labels to assist with directions. the 1st and 2nd floors tend to be where all of the "named" lecture theatres are whereas a room code, such as Zón Mac Léinn, Room 4017 will usually refer to upper levels.

There is a sensory space located at the rear of the building near the lift. This space is bookable for students needing a quiet, private area.

Accessible Entrances: Both the first and second-floor entrances are accessible. The main front entrance features a ramp, and the entrance to the coffee dock on level 1 is on level access.

Lifts and Staircases: The building is served by four staircases located at different points, a platform lift, and a passenger lift, ensuring easy access to all floors.

Accessible Toilets: Available on all floors.

Changing Places Toilet: Located on level 2 near the attendants desk.

Lecture Theatres: All theatres on levels 2 and 3 have loop systems and power automated doors, ensuring accessibility for all students.
