The seating areas in the Arts Building's 1st Floor offer a variety of seating options, including tables, chairs, couches, and benches. Conveniently located close to The Perch, a popular student coffee and refreshment shop, this area is situated outside one of the largest lecture theatres on campus. It is an ideal spot for students to relax, study, or socialise between classes. While the area tends to be lively and can get quite loud, it remains a favoured space for many due to its central location and accessibility.

Seating is plentiful and diverse, with options ranging from individual chairs and tables to couches and benches. Whether you're looking to study alone, work in a group, or just relax, you'll find a seating arrangement that suits your needs.
Numerous plug sockets are available throughout the area, making it convenient for students to charge their laptops, phones, and other electronic devices while they work or relax.
Food and drink are readily available, with The Perch café located just steps away. You can enjoy a coffee, snack, or meal in the seating area, making it a perfect spot for a break between lectures.
The nearest kettle from here can be found in the SU Kitchen in House 6.

The sensory experience in this area includes natural light from nearby windows and the ambient sounds of student activity. While it can become noisy due to the high volume of people, it remains a comfortable and engaging space for social interaction and study.

From the main entrances of the Arts Block, near the Perch café, turn right and go down the steps until you see an area of red-coloured circular couches and tables.

The area is fully accessible. The lift adjacent The Perch will be needed to access this area.
