The enivornment is wide, tall and allows for echoes of ambience from people, there is a wide path running down the centre of the room, with signage towards the Kitchen. The kitchen/food counter areas contain more noises and involve a one-way queuing system that is highlighted by signage on the walls and floor. The smells of food are noticeable in this space. Due to the rectangular shape of the room there are no easy places to go where there will be an overall reduction in noise.
The main entrance to the Dining Hall is via the large wooden door at the top of a set of steps, the front of the building faces onto Parliment Square. You must go through 2 sets of large doors to enter the dining area, the kitchen can be found at back of the main hall. You can also enter this hall via the Atrium.
