Description

The Atrium is at the heart of student society life, serving as a vibrant space for meetings, events, and gatherings. The building is designed to accommodate the dynamic nature of student activities, with several bookable rooms that cater to the diverse needs of societies. The main hall of the Atrium is a stunning four-storey space, featuring an elegant oak interior that connects seamlessly with the Dining Hall Complex, including the Buttery and the Dining Hall itself. [Main Hall]: The central feature of the Atrium is its tall, sunlit hall. This space is often quiet, providing a serene environment where the only sounds heard are the rustling from the nearby Dining Hall and Buttery. The hall's natural light creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxation or quiet reflection between society events. [Society Rooms]: Surrounding the main hall, you'll find a variety of rooms available for booking. These spaces are well-suited for society meetings, workshops, and other events, offering flexibility to accommodate groups of different sizes. [Dining Hall Complex]: The Atrium is part of the larger Dining Hall Complex, linking all levels of the building. This includes convenient access to the 1592 Restaurant, the Buttery, and the Dining Hall, making it easy for students to move between dining and society activities.

The Atrium offers a mix of sensory experiences:

Main Hall:

The tall, oak-lined hall is often bathed in sunlight, creating a peaceful and calming environment. The quietness of the hall, occasionally interrupted by soft sounds from the Dining Hall and Buttery, makes it a great space for students seeking a moment of calm.

Corridors and Society Spaces:

The corridors between the rooms can be livelier, especially around midday, when students are attending society meetings or events. The atmosphere in these areas is more dynamic, reflecting the bustling life of student societies.

The main entrance to the Atrium is located to the left of the Dining Complex. From here, you can easily access the main hall, society rooms, and the rest of the Dining Hall Complex.

You can also access this area via the Dining Hall and Buttery.

All levels of the Atrium are fully accessible, with lifts and ramps ensuring that every student can move freely within the space. There is a main lift near the back of the atrium main hall.
